This is not an "official" WMR PCA event, but it does sound like a good time!  Thanks to Lorraine Malone for passing along the following information from new member Randy Harlan:

We are planning a party at Cottage Cove on Elk Lake, which is about 18 miles north of Traverse City. The party will be on June 02, from 11 am to 3 pm.

First, let me say that the original purpose for the party was to generate traffic at the Cottage Cove on Elk Lake Condominiums. But then it occurred to us that since we are going through the effort of arranging for the party, tent, and food and since we are car enthusiasts and like to be around sports cars, it would be a good thing to include a car rendezvous as part of the activities, too. This would make it more fun for us and provide a great destination for a day's drive in your Porsche. We have also invited the Twin Bay British Sports Car Club, but I would be pleased to have a Porsche or two or more show up to park next to my 1968 912. We hope to make this a great car event and if all goes well, may be something we would do again.

The activities that we plan, in addition to the cars, are boat demo rides on Elk Lake, kayaks to paddle around the little bay we are in, a couple of car displays, maybe a hot air balloon, a few games, and of course, food and refreshments. There will be some pretty good door prizes, and the first 5 Porsches and the first 5 British cars that show up from the car clubs will get a special gift. There will be a parking area set aside for the clubs. It should be a fun day and a great setting as a destination for a drive in your car.

DIRECTIONS: Go to Elk Rapids on US 31, north of Traverse City, and turn east (right, when coming from Traverse City) onto Ames St. at the only stop light in Elk Rapids. Follow this street for about 4 miles as it winds around the north end of Elk Lake and eventually turns into Cherry Ave. You will come to the village of Kewadin. At the intersection of Cherry Ave. and Cairn Hwy, in Kewadin, you will see the Oasis Bar, but don't stop there because we are only another 1/4 mile further on Cherry Ave. There will be a large Cottage Cove sign on the lake side (right side) of the road. There will be someone there to direct you to the parking. NOTE: If you end up at Torch River, you have gone about 5 miles too far on Cherry Ave. and need to turn around and take the beautiful drive back.
