2005 Winter Wander to Drummond Island

February 25, 26 & 27

The Western Michigan Region is busy making plans to host PCA members for a fun winter event! Make sure you include this on your calendar of must-do club activities!

Friday, February 25  Drive up or fly in!  Arrive following your own course and setting your own pace. Check in to the main lodge, unpack, and get your bearings. Then join us in "Tower C" for hors d'oeuvres sponsored by your hosts, Barry and Candis Collick. Bring your own adult beverage to enjoy while relaxing in front of the massive stone fireplace.

Saturday, February 26  Start the day with a rib sticking breakfast at The Pins. Then it’s off to your choice of outdoor adventures for the day. The resort is hosting the MUSH Dog 4th Annual Sled Races both Saturday and Sunday. Racing begins at 10am, with the start/finish line located at the Pro Shop. Warm up in the 19th hole for coffee, hot chocolate and lunch. Visit with the racers and dogs— this is a great family event!

The Resort also offers free use cross country ski equipment and snow shoes to guests. Enjoy the miles of undisturbed groomed trails that wander the back country of Drummond Island. There is also a skating pond and tubing hill with equipment available free of charge for the youngsters and young at heart!

And for those of us that can’t seem to get enough speed, there will be an organized snowmobile safari complete with a stop at the Snow X Race. Being held for the first time on Drummond Island, this is a MUST SEE event! The Michigan Snow X Cup Series has something for everyone— the events are grass roots oriented with equal attention to the Kids, Sport as well as the Semi-Pro and Pro drivers. There will be full national television coverage of this event!

Later in the day you can warm up in the Scandinavian Sauna before dressing for dinner at Bayside Restaurant, where dining is a gourmet’s delight. Executive Chef Nathan Mileski has earned numerous awards and definitely has a flair for presentation!

Sunday, February 27

You’re on your own to enjoy your last day in paradise. You can get in one last run on the snowmobile trails, glide through the early morning light over the x-country ski trails, or head out early and take a side trip down M-119 as you head back south.
