Minutes of the West Michigan Region of the Porsche Club of America

January 5, 2009

Delta Imports, Grand Rapids – Meeting was called to order by Ted Blacklidge at 7:00pm.  Members present were:  Ted and Gabi Blacklidge, Dan and Ren Phillips, Amber Door, Brenda Hildon, Rick Riley, Kurt Wirth, Eric and Lina Spross.

Minutes:  Approved.

Treasurers Report:  Approved.   $324 was collected through Change for Charity during 2008.  We are eligible for a charity subsidy through National. 

Webmaster:  The website was updated this week.  Ted mentioned that our website is outstanding as compared to others in the club.  Go Michael!

Membership Report:  244 Primary Members, 198 Affiliate Members – total 442. New members are: Gary Jarrold, Traverse City, ’81 911. Transfers In: 1, John and Jana Hanson, Grand Rapids, ’76 914-4 – transfer from RSR Region, Transfers Out: 1 – to Florida Crown.  Non-renewals: 4, Renewals: 12. 

We regret to announce: Former WMR member Marilyn Moses passed away January 2, 2009.  In lieu of flowers, the family has chosen two memorials:

Poplar Grove Vintage Wings & Wheels Museum, PO Box 236, Popler Grove IL, 61065.

Tebala Shrine Air Squadron, c/o Art Hass, 1217 Ramona Terrace, Machesney Park IL, 61115

A motion was made and approved to donate $50 to the Poplar Grove Vintage Wings & Wheels Museum.  Going forward $50 will be made to memorials as necessary.

Advertising:  Nothing new to report .  A few advertisers will not continue in 2009 as they have not paid. 

Uber:  Ren is toying with the idea of changing the layout.

Insurance:  Kurt has nothing new to insure.

Driving Events: 

IROC - No report. Ted will try to get more information regarding upcoming events.

Grattan DE – Sunday all-day event. Sept 18, 19, 20. We are looking for a marketing director for this event.

 Old Business:

·         December DD – Appetizer Party hosted by the Konings.  Well attended despite the bad weather.  Great time had by all.

·         Suggestions are encouraged for our 50 Year Anniversary event 2010.               

New Business:

·         Rick Riley’s DD at Leo’s January 14 – details on the web and in the Uber.

·         WinterFest Update – invitations will go out the weekend of January 10.  Finalizing all remaining details. 

·         Spring Up to Traverse – tentatively June 20, 2009. Hosted by Dave & Beth Howard

·         Calendar dates available – Duane and Brenda Weed would like to host an all U-can-eat buffet at Maxfield in Blanchard MI.  Details to follow.

·         Charity – our 2009 Charity will be the ALS Foundation facilitated by Eric Spross.

·         50^th Anniversary – Planning is beginning. We need volunteers and ideas!

·         Gilmore – tentative date is June 10. Hosted by Rick Riley and his Committee.
